Born in Sydney. Attended Gordon Primary & Devonshire Street Experimental School. Moved to Adelaide as a teenager, attended Brighton High School, represented the state in athletics and cross country. Joined the family's sports event company People in Motion and started the sports publishing business Training Graphics.  After a period in Tasmania protesting went on to work in western NSW  as a farm hand. Later studied agriculture under the influential Systems Proffesor Richard Bawdin at historic Hawkesbury Agriculture College, Richmond.

Left for Europe in 1988, subsequently spent 11 years in Scandinavia studying language, history and culture. Studied Information Technology, Business & Philosophy at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Contracted to Birralee International School to Establish the IT department and curriculum under Einstien Peace Prize winning educationalist Dr. Margot Tonseth. Was a "First 100 local schools" to establish a web presence and partnered with Apple, IBM and the Norwegian Folke Universitet in early online pedagogy.

Married Torunn Syrstad in 1994 at Nidaros in Trondheim, Norway. Soon after blessed with a pair of wonderful children.

Worked as a consultant for the Norwegian Computer Society in establishing the Computing in Education Research and Promotions group.

Moved to back to Australia and worked as a IT&T strategist for various Economic Development Agencies. NSW Premiers Department, State & Regional Development and Office for IT.

Authored the NSW Central Coast Telecommunincations Strategy (launched by Fed. Comms Minister Richard Alston in 1999) and the Information Technology Industry Strategy 2000 (launched by State IT Minister Kim Yeadon).  Co-Founded regional IT business advocacy group ConnectIT as well as a regional Technology Incubator at Mt Penang near Gosford. Actively assisted in attracting development funds for various start-ups projects and investments.

Moved back into business first as development manager for Ideal World and later in Home Automation innovators Open Domestic Integrated Network Systems (ODINS) and online innovation company Organise Internet.

Joined the Youth Connections Inc management committee in 2001 later went on to chair and help lead the reform of the organisation to a public company with numerous subsidiary companies in the areas of construction, media, labor hire and specialist schooling. Stepped down as chair in 2011 having helped build a multi-million dollar organisation with over 100 employees.

Lectured at the University of Newcastle, Australia in the areas of project management and later researched air pollution data.

Joined the ABC radio as an independent technology commentator on numerous regional and metropolitan stations around the states of NSW, QLD and Tasmania. Writes for various business magazines.

Lead regional broadband advocacy campaigns first in 2001/2002 which resulted in the relocation of Telstra Country Wide Investments and Offices and later in 2010/2011 under a Business and Community investment campaign to Federal Government & NBNCo. Appointed to 'Broadband Champions' group by Federal Department in 2011 to help communicate the opportunities arising from the National Broadband Network investment.

As an active member of the local community I became Parent and Citizen President of the local school and lead an active team in the lobbying, negotiation and construction of totally new school facilities, including the relocation and constructions of the community pre-school onto the school precinct.

Was appointed chairman of the Regional Development Australia Central Coast board by Federal Minister Simon Crean and Deputy NSW Premier Andrew Stoner in March 2012. Also chairs that region's Broadband Infrastructure Group.

Was appointed to the founding board of the NSW Telecommunications Authority in June 2012 a stand alone statutory body reporting to the NSW Minister of Finance.

Enjoys bush walking, road cycling, poetry and being an active patrolling member of our local Surf Lifesaving Club and committee member for the local football club.
